1 month old

I can't believe my baby is one month old (yesterday). I can't believe how fast this past month has gone - it seems just like yesterday I was in the hospital giving birth. I'm doing better than I was the first 2 weeks, but the late nights are continuing to wear on me and there are some days where I wonder if I'll be able to survive without sleep.

David is such a good baby. He still sleeps all day long and we're getting the hang of the breast feeding thing. It's still a battle at times but it's getting so much better. He grunts and squeals like crazy in the nights after I feed him and I'm not sure if it's gas or constipation, but his tummy tightens up and he squeals like he's in pain. He doesn't cry when this happens but it breaks my heart because I know he's uncomfortable and I don't know what to do about it. Any suggestions?

I love this little guy like crazy and it makes me sad that he's already growing up and getting bigger. I wish he could stay tiny forever - but sleep through the nights!

My sister in law said that those gas drops - Mylicon - got her through the first few months of nursing. We tried that, but there were so many other factors in our situation that it did not work out. But more than one person has said a drop of those before and a drop after each feeding really helps.

I'm glad to see your little guy growing! I hope you have the time/energy to post more pics and updates soon but if you don't... I totally understand!

*big hugs*

So good to see you are surviving!! I am so glad I got a quick chance to hold little David before I left because now I can see how much bigger he does look in this picture! He is so handsome and I agree it is hard to watch them get bigger and all I can say is time only speeds up from here, not slow down, so love it even when it sucks at times!Miss you!

I have to second the Mylicon drops. They saved me with all three of my babies. You can buy them at any drug store. Seriously...go now! :-) And don't worry...you will sleep eventually but it sure doesn't feel like it right now. He is so adorable. I am so happy for you guys! Love you1

For sure the Mylicon drops. And be really cautious of what you eat for a little while. In my first few weeks of nursing, I basically ate chicken and bread. No spices. It's not fun, but it really helped my boys stomachs. Call me if you have any questions....Time sure flies when you are sleep deprived!!!

I fourth the Mylicon drops. Bless them each and every one.

I used Mylicon drops with Theo also. Except I got the Target brand version, way cheaper...

Sometimes with both my kids when they were tiny I'd hold them upright for a while before laying them back down after nursing, even once they had burped. Often another burp was waiting. Gentle belly massages help get burps up too.

He is so adorable.

Mylicon Mylicon Mylicon! You remember when I came to visit and I carried that little bottle with me religiously? It definitely works. Cameron does the same thing where he squeals and tightens his tummy, trying to get the gas out. It must just be a normal new baby thing. But David is ADORABLE and he is getting big! I am sad he's getting big, but happy he is gaining weight and getting strong!

Mylicon works - as everyone has suggested - but one thing i always did while waiting for them to kick in... i would lay reagan on her back and get out the blowdryer. Put it on low and just let the warm air run over her stomach (about 6 inches above her tummy). move it back and forth enough so it doesn't get to hot in one spot. i think the sound of the dryer and the warmth on the stomach is what works so well. seriously, she'd settle down instantly and would usually fall asleep shortly after.

your boy is an absolute doll!! congratulations.
