What color crayon are you?

You Are a Yellow Crayon

Your world is colored with happy, warm, fun colors.
You have a thoughtful and wise way about you. Some people might even consider you a genius.
Charming and eloquent, you are able to get people to do things your way.
While you seem spontaneous and free wheeling, you are calculating to the extreme.

Your color wheel opposite is purple. You both are charismatic leaders, but purple people act like you have no depth.

Happy Halloween

Last night my sister and brother-in-law had a Halloween costume party. Dan and I hate trying to decide what to wear so we dug out our costumes from last year and went as trailer trash. We're all about recycling our costumes! Noelle did a great job putting everything together. The food was amazing, games were fun, and the decorations were awesome.

Here we are... Just so you know, Dan is not really this fat!
Wish you could see the tattoo on his butt crack

OH. MY. GOSH!

I belong to a cake decorating forum and here are some pictures I saw that were posted today. There are some pretty gosh awful cake ideas out there...but this one takes the cake (no pun intended). Can you imagine eating this?

Coffee??

I find this mind boggling as I can't stand the smell or taste of coffee.

Happy Birthday Noelle

My little sister's birthday is on Wednesday so we had her and her husband over last night for dinner. We had barbecue beef brisket, grilled asparagus, potato casserole, spinach poppy seed salad, and homemade rolls (which was the first time I've gotten them to rise).

I made her a birthday cake which turned out to be an absolute disaster. This is an extremely perfect version of what it was supposed to look like. I knew it wouldn't be as close to this good, but had high hopes that it would somehow turn out.

I was wrong...completely wrong. Too high of hopes!

This is how it turned out. As you can see, it is not sitting like a purse, that's because it toppled over in the middle of the night. Apparently my layers were too high and there wasn't enough support. I had to make do and improvise...hence the reason for a "half purse". The morning after I iced it, I found a huge crack in the middle where the cake had settled. I gooped more icing over it and prayed it would stay together for the celebration. Oh yeah, and half way through my decorating the power went out and I finished decorating by candle light. Needless to say, I've got a long way to go before I can ever sell my cakes.

Where have I been?

I've been to all the states in red. I've got a long way to go before I can consider myself a world traveler.

Pumpkin Dump Cake

A few years ago my cousin gave me the recipe for "Pumpkin Dump Cake", and has since been my favorite "Fall" recipe.

I know that the word "dump" should never be in the name of the recipe...but don't let the title fool you. Once you've eaten this you'll think you've died and gone to heaven....it's THAT good!

Oh...and it's easy! All you do is "dump" all the ingredients in a 9"x13" baking dish. Give it a try!

PUMPKIN DUMP CAKE
29 oz. can pumpkin (or 4 cups)
1 can evaporated milk
3 beaten eggs
1 C. Sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ginger

Mix ingredients, put on bottom of 13X9 pan

1 white or yellow cake mix
1 1/2 sticks melted butter

sprinkle cake mix on top then pour over melted butter.
cook at 350 degrees for 50 minutes.

Friends Since Birth

Allie and her husband came out to DC for a work trip and we were able to spend Friday night with them. We went to dinner at Sequoia in Georgetown and enjoyed the night laughing and reminiscing about the good 'ol days.

I've known Allie my entire life. We grew up across the street from each other and our families were (and still are) very good friends. You can't be around Allie and not laugh...simply impossible. Maybe it's just because we're both giddy and laugh at everything anybody says, but we have so much fun together and laugh our heads off for no reason.

So glad we were able to see them!
