Austria...here we come!

My parents have a time share in Austria that needs to be used by the end of the year. My parents won't be able to use it due to my dad's poor health, so they're letting us use it...for free! We'll be staying in Salzburg, Austria but will make our way to Berlin, Prague, Budapest, and Venice, Italy while we're there. If any of you have been to these cities and you have some recommendations of things to see/do while we're there...I'm up for suggestions!

I'm in much need of a break and can't wait! Actually, Dan and I are heading to San Diego on Thursday for a week, but I'm sure come Thanksgiving I'll be needing another get away! One of the perks of not having children - we must take advantage of the traveling while we can.

How fun! I'm excited for you and will be waiting to hear the update when you return (I know it is a few month's away). Never been there so I have no advice, but I bet no matter what you do, just the scenery and experience will be amazing.

How exciting! We are leaving for Budapest a week form Thursday! It would have been fun to be there at the same time!!! I think we are going to jet down to Croatia while we are there.
All the countries around there are beautiful. One of my favorites is Prague if you get the chance to go!

Hey, come see us! Or else let's meet up in Italy for a day or something--that'd be so fun! (For us at least. Too bad if you don't like us, we want to do it anyway.)

That is so awesome! I'm excited for you too! You'll have to go find a mountain top field and twirls around singing the Sound of Music! Take a picture and then blog about it! :)

Have fun in SD!

One of the disadvantages to you living across the country is that I don't keep up with what is going on with you. SOOOOO jealous about Austria! "gday mate, go throw anotha shrimp on tha bawbie" ;-)

I just read your last post, and know that our prayers are that your wishes and dreams will come true! Thanks for checking in on our situation with Jada Rose.

Dirk served his mission in Berlin. You should email him for some tips on cool spots. I was in Prag for a week. I will email you some pics and tips. how fun!

Berlin was ok, just a really large city. But neighboring Potsdam is awesome. Of course I was there right after the wall fell so I'm sure the place has changed a lot. Back then there was a definite west/east side. Prague on the other hand is (well was, I'm not sure how it is now) AMAZING!!!!! You can buy crystal super cheap, enough said.

What an AWESOME opportunity for you and Dan! Are you avoiding Thanksgiving on purpose now? Haha! I'll see if Alan has any tips on great places to see/visit/etc. Take LOTS of pictures! I can't wait to hear about your trip . . even if it's a couple months away.

WHAT???? Are you kidding me??? I'm SOOOO jealous!! When are you going? I was only in Innsbruk, Austria once...never got to Salzburg. LOVED IT though. Are you going to watch "Sound of Music" a hundred times before you go?? :)

I'm unbelievably jealous of you. Are you going to take the Sound of Music tour?

I went to Salzburg in 2006. It was so beautiful! The Mozart museums aren't worth the money (in my opinion). The garden where they filmed the Sound of Music is AMAZING. You must see that. But the highlight of the entire trip was the salt mine. You must do that. www.salzwelt.de It was SOOO fun. We also saw the Eagles Nest (Hitler retreat). It's not far from the mines. Make sure you have GPS because that area is VERY confusing.

I hope you have a blast.

I'm a little late commenting...okay, super late...but...I just have to say, Prague is gorgeous and the food is delicious and cheap. Also, the opera is super cheap, you have to go to one. Hungarian food is ALSO delicious and cheap (and if you're interested I can tell you about my experience at a Turkish bath in Budapest...a cultural experience for sure). Venice of course is dreamy and I've never been to Berlin, sadly!

AND...I can't believe you're not going to Vienna! My favorite city in the world!! But...Salzburg is pretty nice too. Definitely go on the Sound of Music tour, it's cheesy but fun! I recommend the tour guide named Peter if he's still there. Super funny.

Hi there! I'm so glad I checked out your blog today and saw that you're going to Prague! You MUST stay in these apts http://www.hotelsprague.cz/vlasska/
They are amazing! You will love it there and I'm so excited for you both. In Budapest go to GERBEAUD and have their hot chocolate-- to die for! And get a massage at the Hotel Gellert. It's like $30.

You'e going to have a blast!
