Poor poor little boy

David has had a nasty cough and cold since we got back from Utah 5 days ago. I didn't think much about it until today when he fussed, pulled on his ears, and cried ALL day. He's such a happy baby so I knew that something was wrong when he wouldn't stop fussing today. Dan and I took him to Instacare and the doctor who helped us was a moron. She seemed like she was afraid of babies because she hardly checked him out and then came back with the news that we needed to take him to the Emergency Room. She was afraid he had pneumonia because it looked like he was having a hard time breathing (how would she know, she barely even checked him out)?

So, we headed to the hospital and spent forever there as the doctors looked him over... no pneumonia! I'm so grateful to know that he's okay, but at the same time so irritated over the incompetence of some doctors. I know she was trying to cover her butt and didn't want to diagnose the wrong thing, but seriously? If she would have checked his breathing she would have known he didn't have pneumonia and there would have been no reason for a scare. Anyway, sorry about the rant! Here is a cute picture of my cute boy in his cute hospital gown! Did I say he was cute??

The nurse at the ER said, "Oh wow, he's a chunker"
I don't know why she thought that :)

Christmas Vacation - 2009

We just got back from yet another trip to Utah! We were there to spend Christmas with my family and we had a great time - too bad I had to return to real life here in VA. It was the first time in 3 years that my whole family was together, so it made Christmas extra special!

We went to the Hogle Zoo lights and David was mesmerized by all the glimmer!

My mom bought these hats for David & Katie and we couldn't stop laughing at them;
they were so cute!

I taught my sister-in law Lesa and her kids a few cake decorating tips!

oooh - an outfit! Just what he wanted!

Happy Family

Not such a happy baby - Christmas wore him out!

Christmas day exhausted the babies!

The day after Christmas we drove down St. George to spend time with Dan's family

I was lucky enough to get to spend some time with my best friends from high school - it has been way too long since we've all been together. We laughed our guts out as we reminisced about all the stupid things we did when we were young. Thanks gals for taking the time out of your busy holiday schedule to come see me!

I hope you all have a happy & prosperous new year!
Here's to 2010 (geeze, I'm getting old).

David & Santa

We had to take advantage of the time that David isn't afraid of strangers, so we headed off to the mall to see Santa. David was mesmerized by Santa's white beard and wouldn't look at the camera for two seconds...so this is the shot we ended up with:

Pretty cute if I say so myself!

Thanksgiving 2009

This year for Thanksgiving we went with some friends down to a beach house in Hilton Head Island, SC. The last few years Dan and I have been out of the country on Thanksgiving, so we were thrilled to be able to eat a traditional Thanksgiving dinner with friends. On our way down to Hilton Head, Dan and I stopped in Charleston, SC for a day. It is such a beautiful city!
We took a horse carriage tour around the historical district and saw so many gorgeous homes.

CHARLESTON, SC

These pictures are a few of my favorite houses!
Dan took this picture of us while we were on the horse carriage!

SAVANNAH, GA

We were so close to Savannah, GA that we thought we'd take a day trip there. It's a great city as well, but I have to admit....I liked Charleston so much better!

**Disclaimer: I promise I own more clothes than just a haggard blue sweat shirt. I thought it was going to be warmer than it was and only packed one warm thing. :)

Trip to Utah - October 2009

David and I just got back from another trip to Utah. Dan and I have been saving all our frequent flyer miles so I could take as many trips out to see my family as I would like. Right now is the time to take advantage of flying while my baby is a good little traveler, plus my dad is sick and I want him to be able to see my baby as much as possible.

We packed in as many activities as possible, and despite everybody in my family having strep throat, bronchitis, and David getting pink eye, I think it was a successful trip!

You can't go to Utah at Halloween and not go to Gardner Village's witch display.

David has the teeniest, tiniest feet you've ever seen. He is almost 6 months old and I can't find any real shoes that fit him. I finally found a pair of new born shoes that finally fit him - he's not sure what to make of it!

My brother Matt and his family came up one Sunday afternoon and I made Halloween chocolate suckers with his kids. I don't get to see them very often and when I do I try to treasure every moment I get with them.

I taught my dad how to make whole wheat bread....good job Pops!

First time for David eating baby food...he ate it like a champ! I couldn't shovel it in fast enough. So sad that this boy is already turning out like his mom & dad!

My flight back to VA was delayed several hours and I wasn't sure I'd be able to make my connection in Dallas, so I stayed a few more days with my family. We had a time share condo in Park City, so my mom, sister Noelle & I took the kiddos up there for a few days until my flight left on Saturday. I was ready to get home, but I'm glad I decided to stay a few days because those were some of my fondest memories of the trip.

Thanks mom & dad for letting us crash your place for 2 weeks (and thanks to Aunt Nat for letting me take over her bedroom). We love coming home and look forward to another trip over Christmas!
