Photo Shoot (a real one this time)

Since David has been born, my friend Rachel (www.racheljeffriesphotography.com) has been telling me she'd take some professional pictures of him. My life has been busy and I've never taken her up on the offer. I finally decided to get my butt in gear and have some real photos taken of my baby....I'm a pathetic mother and don't have any professional pictures of him.

Here are some of my favorite pics of the day. Please note that I didn't intend on having any pictures taken of me that day, so I didn't do my hair. As a matter of fact, I had every intention of getting up and getting ready, but my hair dryer happened to die that day (no lie!)

Day at the Park

Oh my goodness! Two posts in one week....something must be wrong with me! I'm trying to be better at taking more pictures and posting them on my blog. I really don't think people even look at my blog anymore, but just in case I've got some blog stalkers, I better keep it updated so I don't lose ALL my fans! :)

Today was a beautiful day! It has been raining here the last few days and I couldn't wait to get outside and enjoy the sunshine! These are a few of the pics I took at the park today:

David loved the swing, but would NOT put his arms outside of it!
He looks like an armless baby!

Happy Birthday Baby Boy

I can't believe David is already 1 year old. Where has the time gone?

We had a big birthday party for him on Saturday and had a great time with everybody that came. David got spoiled rotten!

Here are some pictures from his party:

This is the "Yo Gabba Gabba" cake I made for the party! The figures on top are made out of fondant and gum paste....never again will I attempt something this size!

David loved his cake! He loves the show "Yo Gabba Gabba" and recognized the figures on top. Every time he would see them he'd get a huge smile on his face! His joy was worth the hell I went through to make the figures!

He was hesitant at first to eat the cake. I don't think he wanted to get his hands dirty so he ate it like this. It only took him a few minutes to get used to it before he tore in and destroyed the whole cake. Unfortunately, I didn't get a picture of that, but here's a video I took with my phone of the destruction.

Dan's sister Becky and her family came up to see us. David loves playing with his cousin Cameron! We were so glad they came to the party!

My baby is getting so big!

I can't believe David is almost 1 year old. Where has time gone? I wish I could freeze every stage of his life so far and not let him get bigger.

Mom's visit to DC

I haven't posted in a long time! We moved into our house in November and since then I have been scrambling around everyday working on a project to improve our home. I've been so busy I've hardly had time to breathe. Thank goodness my mom came into town for 10 days and was able to help me out with David and some other projects around the house. She came just in the nick of time.

My mom just turned 60 (you'd never know...she looks so young) and had never been to NYC. Dan and I decided that for her birthday we'd take her to New York to celebrate. We spent the days eating, shopping for fake purses in China Town, saw the musical Billy Elliot and ate some more. We had a great time! Here are some pictures of our trip:

We spent a lot of time on the Subway

David doesn't find history very exciting!

Times Square

Central Park

We also went to Annapolis, Maryland one day and enjoyed the beautiful weather! We ate delicious sea food and walked around the Naval Academy.

The main part of my mom's trip consisted of yard work. My mom got a bee in her bonnet and could only think about redoing our front yard. My dad is a landscape architect and sketched a plan, and my mom spent 5 days digging out flower beds and making our front yard look beautiful. I felt bad knowing my mom was spending her whole vacation doing yard work, but she insisted on it....so I let her do it!

We're going to replant our grass because it's in pretty bad shape. Once all the plants fill in it will be gorgeous. Thanks mom & dad for all your hard work!
