Mom's visit to DC

I haven't posted in a long time! We moved into our house in November and since then I have been scrambling around everyday working on a project to improve our home. I've been so busy I've hardly had time to breathe. Thank goodness my mom came into town for 10 days and was able to help me out with David and some other projects around the house. She came just in the nick of time.

My mom just turned 60 (you'd never know...she looks so young) and had never been to NYC. Dan and I decided that for her birthday we'd take her to New York to celebrate. We spent the days eating, shopping for fake purses in China Town, saw the musical Billy Elliot and ate some more. We had a great time! Here are some pictures of our trip:

We spent a lot of time on the Subway

David doesn't find history very exciting!

Times Square

Central Park

We also went to Annapolis, Maryland one day and enjoyed the beautiful weather! We ate delicious sea food and walked around the Naval Academy.

The main part of my mom's trip consisted of yard work. My mom got a bee in her bonnet and could only think about redoing our front yard. My dad is a landscape architect and sketched a plan, and my mom spent 5 days digging out flower beds and making our front yard look beautiful. I felt bad knowing my mom was spending her whole vacation doing yard work, but she insisted on it....so I let her do it!

We're going to replant our grass because it's in pretty bad shape. Once all the plants fill in it will be gorgeous. Thanks mom & dad for all your hard work!

What a great idea...my mom is 64, lives in California, and has never been to NYC either but I know she wants to. I think I'll have to take her sometime soon!

Fun update, Mer. I'm so glad your mom was able to come - I love it when my mom comes! Little David is such a doll...even if he wasn't crazy about siteseeing!
